Grand Dholki - Personal Touches
My Dholki was hosted in my hometown in Alberta a month before the wedding. We rented part of a Pakistani restaurant and made this into a grand event for those friends and relatives who were unable to make it to the wedding in Lahore.
Since the city I lived in had barely any Pakistani events, all the decor were DIY.
Personal touches for the event:
· Create a wedding hashtag and have all your friends/bridesmaids write your wedding hashtag in their mehndi
· Utilize a guestbook for all your events. Just having it on one event won’t cover everyone and not everyone will remember to sign. Create a separate space and table with a sign for this.
· Create personalized welcome signs and place them all over the hall
· I used digital art to create my dress of the event and pasted it on my welcome posters for the day of
· Have a photobooth setup with props (can be easily printed on cardstock paper and cut out)
· My friend made me special gajrays (as they are not available in Canada) with fresh roses and white flowers with a wire bought from the dollar store
· Gol guppa fountain at dholki event set-up by the restaurant
· Corsages for the girls
· Bride team sash for my friends
